What's your prediction on the season ahead?

QUALITY, not quantity sums up Roy Keane's transfer policy this summer and adding experienced players such as El-Hadji Diouf, Teemu Tainio, Pascal Chimbonda and Steed Malbranque should ensure that there will be no repeat of last season's relegation battle.

Kenwyne Jones' long-term knee injury is a major blow to the Black Cats as the striker was so influential for them last season.

But if Keane can bring in another top class frontman, a specialised left-back such as Nicky Shorey and another centre-back -- preferably Jonny Evans -- they should join the mid-table crowd.

My prediction: 11th

I reckon we will finish 16/17 just avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth.

The players Keano has brought in are all past their best and very average.

roker_robbie - are you havin a laugh! Call yersell a supporter man! come on give the lads a bit of support.

My crystal ball tells me the luck of the Irish will shine on us this year and were looking at the heady heights of 9th place.

Keano's success in obtaining the release of 'the Spurs three' and the signing of radji hadji shouldnt be underestimated, but what about central defence and a striker? We look likely to start the campaign with a lone striker up front, it didnt work with Kenwyne so it sure aint going to work with Murphy!

Zen Master Keano has chosen wisely. Last season we did really well against those around us, less well against the mid-table teams and poorly against the top teams. I can't see teams like Blackburn, Man City or Everton taking 6 points off us this season. We'll still get cuffed by the top 4 but 10th/11th is a decent aim with 47-50 points. Kenwyne's return will boost the side but I'm looking for others eg Edwards & Richardson to make a better goals contribution . We've got the big MO (ie momentum for any dense fans from up the road)
