Allardyce favourite to take the job with Sunderland
SAM Allardyce has emerged as the early favourite to replace Roy Keane as Sunderland manager after the former Black Cats defender indicated he would jump at the chance of a return to Wearside.
The Journal understands Allardyce views the Sunderland job as the perfect opportunity for a return to Premier League management 11 months after he parted company with Newcastle.
Allardyce's stock has fallen as a consequence of an uninspiring short spell at St James's Park, but the 54-year-old remains one of the most successful managers in the Premier League, having turned unfashionable Bolton Wanderers into a consistent force in the top flight of English football.

YES!!!! Big Sam is the right man for SAFC, he has all the qualities and experince required, apart from his stint at the toon:
Gets his team to play awful football (will fit in straight away at SAFC)
No experience or ability to handle and motivate world class players, (non at SAFC anyway)
Used to having to make due with a sub standard, mediorce bunch of players (NUFC being the exception)
Used to getting his team to play in front of small home crowds (St James the exception)
No pressure or expectations being put on him: easy money (NUFC being the exception)
Yep!!! Big Sam is the man for SAFC!!
Yes another Toon agent. What Keane ment when he said he went as far as he could was, St James Park recalled him, as his cover was being blown.
I would like to see Paul Jewell take the helm, just have a feeling he could turn the club round quickly, he seems well suited. Big Sam always seems to clash with the players, when Newcastle got him, Bolton were below them in the table and did no better there despite wasting millions of s%$£e players. There ain't gonna be a lot of cash arounf so Jewelll gets my vote.
