Sbragia: We pipped Newcastle to Tal Ben-Haim
RICKY SBRAGIA says loan signings Calum Davenport and Tal Ben-Haim will give Sunderland the defensive strength in depth the Black Cats have been lacking.
Black Cats boss Sbragia had been desperate to bolster his back line after injuries to Nyron Nosworthy and Paul McShane left him down to just four fit defenders ahead of Sunday's Tyne-Wear derby.
And Davenport became Sbragia's second defensive signing in the space of 24 hours when he joined Sunderland on the final day of the transfer window, with Manchester City's Tal Ben-Haim completing his loan move to Wearside on Sunday evening.
