DARREN BENT has shrugged off the disappointment of missing out on an England recall - and says Sunderland is the 'perfect platform' for him to launch his personal World Cup bid.
The Black Cats' £10m record buy has hit seven goals in eight games so far, making him the Premier League's leading English goalscorer and pushing his case for an England recall.
But the former Spurs man was a surprise omission from Fabio Capello's squad for the current round of World Cup qualifiers, which saw England lose against Ukraine on Saturday ahead of tomorrow's game against Belarus at Wembley.
