DAVID Healy is hoping Roy Keane turns on his television tonight and sees the "real" him. But the striker's international manager has warned that he may have to leave the Stadium of Light in January if he fails to win round the Black Cats boss.

The 29-year-old is one of international football's deadliest strikers but has never successfully translated his form to the club scene.

Healy has 35 goals in 69 games for Northern Ireland but he scored just four league goals in his debut season in the Premier League. That did not deter Keane from paying £2m for the ex-Manchester United trainee but he quickly seemed to cool on the player.

TEENAGER Martyn Waghorn says he 'jumped at the chance' to join Charlton Athletic on loan to further his football education.

The Sunderland striker has signed for the Addicks on a month-long loan, with the possibility of extending that for up to two more months.

The highly-rated 18-year-old has made a handful of appearances for the Black Cats, but boss Roy Keane has allowed him to join the Championship side on loan to get regular first-team experience.

ROY Keane has hinted he will sign a new Sunderland contract after admitting he may need to revise his three-year plan for the club because it could take longer to achieve.

Teenage striker Martyn Waghorn yesterday joined Charlton Athletic on a four-week loan as part of Keane's long-term thinking. There has been concern outside of the club, if not within, that Keane is yet to extend the three-year contract he was handed when he took the job in 2006. But the Irishman's longer-term commitment was underlined by his interest in the club's youngsters, of whom Waghorn is the most outstanding.

"We're just trying to build a football club," he said. "On Thursday night I was at a reserve match and our kids were outstanding. We're just trying to build a football club and maybe I need a reminder every now and again how hard it is and how long it takes.

KENWYNE JONES is hoping for great things from his partnership with Djibril Cisse.

Sunderland's first-choice strikers were paired together from the start for the first time in the Premier League at Blackburn on Saturday.

They responded by scoring the goals which gave the Black Cats their 2-1 victory at Ewood Park.

Christopher Samba put Rovers ahead in first-half injury-time, but Jones netted just after the interval and Cisse scored his fifth goal of the season 19 minutes from time to earn their first win in five games.

ROY Keane has branded the short-term 'results now' culture that has infiltrated the Premier League as lunacy - and praised Sunderland's supporters and board for their patience and understanding during the club's winless run, writes.

The Black Cats returned to winning ways at Ewood Park on Saturday with a priceless 2-1 victory that moved the team back into mid-table and eased some of the pressure that was beginning to build on Keane and his players.

Sunderland had been branded the latest 'club in crisis' after an admittedly worrying run of four straight defeats, with some mischievous reports before Saturday's game even suggesting Keane was on the brink of quitting the club that had offered him his route into football management.

YOU can always tell when a manager is under pressure because you start to hear rumours of rows, talk of tension and the quiet, whispered suggestions of a sacking around the corner.

Make no mistake, Roy Keane is under pressure at the moment after four successive defeats and sure enough Friday brought the first noise about Keane quitting on the jungle drums.

It turned out to be nonsense of course, but it says a lot that, on the same day, other people were putting about a rumour the Irishman was on the verge of being given his P45 by the Drumaville Consortium which has financed chairman Niall Quinn's takeover of the club.

SUNDERLAND'S players have been told the time for talking is over and now they must start living up to the pre-season hype.

It was perhaps no coincidence that no Black Cats players were available to talk to the Press after Wednesday's Carling Cup exit at the hands of Blackburn Rovers, preferring to focus on tomorrow's Premier League game away to the same opponents.

ROY Keane last night admitted Sunderland's recent form is worrying him - but not his side's performances. And, despite seeing his players booed off for the second game running, the Irishman has no concerns for his own future.

The Black Cats suffered their fourth consecutive loss - equalling the worst run of his tenure - when they bowed out of the Carling Cup at home to Blackburn Rovers.

FABIO Capello has been urged to consider a shock England return for Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson following his impressive transformation at the Stadium of Light.

Richardson has been the Black Cats' best player so far this season according to his club manager Roy Keane and the Irishman believes the 24-year-old is showing the sort of form which will make it impossible for Capello to ignore his claim for international recognition.
