SUNDERLAND 2 BIRMINGHAM CITY 0
Rade Prica came off the bench to score on his debut as Sunderland climbed out of the bottom three with a win over relegation rivals Birmingham.
Sunderland were already leading thanks to Daryl Murphy's 15th minute strike when Swede Prica came on as a half-time substitute.
And the £2m signing from Danish side Aalborg needed only 20 minutes to open his account for his new club - and he could have made it a double or even a debut hat-trick as the Black Cats blitzed the Blues.
Prica was one of two debutants in the side, with fellow new-boy Phil Bardsley - who joined from Manchester United last week in a deal worth up to £2m - also in the starting line-up and he too made an excellent start to his Sunderland career.
